In recent years there has been a dramatic number of new measures introduced by local government, UK government and from Europe that affects businesses and how they deal with the waste that they produce.
IWMS as a member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management has trained members of staff who can advise our clients on how to prepare for new legislation. We can then turn this advice into implementation within your organization. For example, under the new pre-treatment regulations every business in the UK should now be ‘pre-treating’ their waste before it is collected by their waste contractor. This law came into force on 31st October 2007 and 100% of IWMS clients were compliant from day one.
Legislation we currently advise on and have solutions for include:
- Landfill Directive including Pre-treatment
- Dealing with increases in landfill tax
- Waste electrical legislation (W.E.E.E)
- Hazardous waste legislation
- Packaging regulations including PRN requirements
